The frogs are about 2.5 cm long and are a bright golden-orange color with black eyes. Males are generally smaller, slimmer and more angular in build than females.While not deadly like the golden poison frogs, mantellas have enough toxins to make a predator sick or, at the very least, make it a nasty tasting food.
Diet: termites, ants, and fruit flies.Major Threat(s): timber extraction, fires, and expanding human settlementsCountries: Native; Madagascar Location: found in damp, swampy areas, often associated with screw pine forest. Egg Cycle: eggs are laid on the ground, and the larvae are flushed by rain into swamps, temporary ponds, and flooded forest, where they develop further into frogs
