Which of the following can help solve anoxia in lakes: Algae, Elodea or Cyanobacteria

AbstaractThis project is about comparing three different types of photosynthetic organisms (Cyanobacteria, Algae and Elodea) and testing which one would be the best solution to restart life in an anoxic lake. The question considered was “Which one of the following helps solve the problem with anoxic lakes: Cyanobacteria, Algae or Elodea?” Cyanobacteria was one of the first organisms to do photosynthesis, and from that came Algae in the ocean and then, Elodea in sweet water. Each one of them have different levels of structure complexity. It was hypothesized that Elodea will be the organism to release more oxygen, because it has more complex structure.

Procedure:1.Get cyanobacteria, algae and elodea.2.Place cyanobacteria in 100 ml of water (each tube)3.Place algae and elodea in 500 ml of water (each in separate beakers 2 beakers for each)4.Titrate and use Vernie on before they are exposed to the sun5.Put the cyanobacteria, algae and elodea out in the sun6.Let cyanobacteria, algae and elodea sit in the sun for some days7.Every monday, wednesday and friday(for 2 and a half weeks) the amount of oxygen release will be measured with the process of titration and Vernie equipment. 8.Observe and record the information9.Redo experiment 3 more times(experiment 1st semester- n=2 / experiment 2nd semester n= 3)
