Cystic Fibrosis

What is it? Cystic Fibrosis is a disease where the mucas in the body is thicken and can't be broken down causing it to build up in the lungs and intestines.

Only way it can happen if two parents have one mutated chromosome 7 and it's passed down. The chances are only 25% to getting this disease.

Symptoms: Weight loss, no weight gain, Chronic coughing, pneumonia. More salt produced, poor growth in early development, and no bowel movements in 24-48 hours.

Medications: Sadley, having this disease will come with many many many medications. You need more vitamins for the nutrion loss, antibiotics for the mucas to go down in your lungs, digestive enzymes, and other vaccinations and medications.

For as scary as it sounds, CF only happens in 1 of 2,500 births, although it can happen to a male or a femal. It's an even split on who is diagnosed with CF.

Multiple tests can be done but so far the sweat test is the most common and most effective test. When some one has CF, their sweat has more salt than a non-CF person.
