Birth Of A LegendStanley Martin Lieber, aka “Stan Lee”, grew up in New York City and lived in a small apartment with one window that was facing a brick wall. He lived with his mom, dad, and brother, Larry. His parents were immigrants from Romania. The Great Depression had just started and a lot of people were losing their jobs. Stan’s dad was one of those people that lost his job. He and Stan’s mom would fight a lot and they eventually had to move into a smaller apartment. Stan needed to get a job to help his poor family. Stan didn’t want them to fight. As a kid, Stan loved to read books like Sherlock Holmes and when he had some cash he saw movies like King Kong. Stan worked hard in school and skipped a few grades. He graduated from high school at 16 and went to get a job at Timely Comics. “I thought I would write books as a kid” said Stan.
