Truman shocking annoucement that had MacArthur fired!

We were able to get a hold of the letter that President Truman sent to MacArthur for his releasing.

On April 11, 1951, Truman fired MacArthur from all his commands in Korea and Japan. Douglas MacArthur was best-known American military leaders of World War II, when Allied forces in the southwest Pacific in his commanded. South Korea was invaded in 1950 by North Korea; MacArthur was in charge of the UN forces and productively drove back the invaders. MacArthur’s enthusiasm for pushing on and attacking areas of China was not mutual by President Harry Truman, who relieved MacArthur of his command. Although considered a national hero, he gave a famous address to Congress and retired. Full of confidence, MacArthur was known to be arrogant and egotistical. In Truman’s own words he proclaims that,” I fired him [MacArthur] because he wouldn’t respect the authority of the President...I didn’t fire him because he was a dumb son of a bitch, although he was.” A dumb son of a bitch he may be, according to Truman, but he was a commander of the US-UN troops in South Korea. He led a surprising victory at Inchon (as shown on map). Furthermore, he planned to attack China supply bases north of Yalu River and explore the possibilities of using an atomic bomb, which could start up WWIII using nuclear weapons. MacArthur’s response is that, “I shall return.”
