The success of any garden depends on creating healthy soil for your garden. The more you can do for your soil, the more productive your garden will be and the higher the quality of growth will come from it. There are many ways to do this but the goal is to do it through nature, not with adding harmful chemicals that will hurt the earth. Here are a few ways you can get the kind of soil you need by using what mother nature gives us. Adding oranic matter such as lawn clippings, leaves, stems, moss and manure can help your soil to get the nutrition it needs. Also covering the soil with wood chips or mulch can help in holding soil moisture, keeps your plants cool during the summer and warm during the winter. One last thing you can do to help your soil is planting cover crops. Growing cover crops can really help feed your soil and improve its health year around. Freshly killed cover crops offer nutrients to your soil and decaying roots of cover crops gives oxygen and water to your soil.
