Melinda has been released from her troubles. She has spoken out against the guy that she used to like, gained back her old friends and has finished her tree. Mr. Freeman told her that all she needed to do was to add life to her tree. She used Mr. Freeman's advice to turn over a new leaf in her life. We can all relate to Melinda's experience in school whether it was trying to fit in, making new friends, reuniting with old friends, or to speaking up for a cause. We need to learn to spread our wings and fly.

He threatens to beat and rape her again because she called the police at Rachel's party. Fearing his revenge, she was afraid to speak up until the second attack occured. Rachel and her friends brake down the door and rescue Melinda. She and her old friends are united once again. Melinda completes her tree, by adding the spirit of life to her creation.
