MulanMulan was a normal chinese girl who did everything to please her family although she was a clumsy person. First her father was given an order to join the army although he was injured. Since Mulan cared for her father she decided to take his place pretending to be a man without the family knowing. It was hard for her at first because of the intimidation from the other soldiers. She still believed in herself and gained a lot of courage after finding herself to be used to and comfortable with the men. The whole war was a very adventorous time for her since she was very far away from home. Later she ecame strong and smart enough to lead the chinese army to victory.

Scout and Mulan

Both are tom boys Scout: doesn't like to dress that much like other girls do and she wears clothes that other girls don't wear like overallsMulan: pretends to be a man in the war

Both are courageousScout: stood up for her father whenever someone called him names like a "nigger-lover" to the poitn of beating the person (ex: Francis)Mulan: all though only men were able to be in the army she pretended to be a man just to replace her father since he was injured

But I was more at home in my father's world. People like Mr. Heck Tate did not trap you with innocent questions to make fun of you; even Jem was not highly critical unless you said something stupid. Ladies seemed to live in faint horror of men, seemed unwilling to approve wholeheartedly of them. But I liked them. There was something about them, no matter how much they cussed and drank and gambled and chewed; no matter how undelectable they were, there was something about them that I instinctively liked...(Lee 234)- ScoutThis shows how Scout was closer to boys than girls.
