Global Warming affect on Polar Bears

SummaryGlobal Warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earths atmosphere. Global warming has affected polar bears negetively. Polar bear's habitats could potentially be altered causing polar bears to walk and swim which requires more energy. Scientists say that it is unlikely for the polar bears to survive if the sea ice melts completely. However the US Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to give around 500,000 sq. kilometers of critical habitat for the polar bear.

Global Warming affect on Polar BearsBy: Timothy Prior

In 2008 the polar bear was known as a threatened species. The US Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to give about 500,000 sq. kilometers of critical habitat for the polar bear in October.

Due to global warming the habitats of polar bears could be destroyed or altered. However this could improve polar bears and seals habitats in higher elevations. Polar bears may need to walk and swim more which requires to use more energy for the few remaining prefferred habitats. It is unlikey for the polar bears to survive if the sea ice completely melts away.
