Glacier National Park is known for its 25 active glaciers, which move during thawing and melting. There are numerous hiking trails, over 400 miles of them. It was named for its prominent glacier carved terrain. Admission fee is $25. But 80% of that money is saved in the park and makes possible important visitor service and resource protection projects happen.

Glacier National Park is home to 66 species of mammals, ranging from the tiny pygmy shrew, about the weight of a dime, to majestic species such as the grizzly bear, gray wolf, elk, lynx, wolverine, cougar, mountain goat and bighorn sheep

FAUNA (animals)

This park has 2 historic lodges, Many Glacier Hotel on Lake Swiftcurrent, and Lake McDonald Lodge, located on Lake McDonald. This section of land now Glacier National Park, was known to the Native Americans as "Shining Mountains","Backbone of the World", and "Crown of the Continent" by recent reseachers.
