What Lawyers Do Lawyers have a very important job, especially with all the crime and divorce going on in this society. Lawyers advise and represent clients in courts, before government agencies, and in private legal matters.In addition, they communicate with their clients and others, and they conduct research and analysis of legal problems. Lawyers also interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.

How to Become a Lawyer If you know in high school that you want to be a lawyer, make sure your grades are high (A-B average).Also in high school, take electives that will look good on a college resume. The most useful courses/electives are those which encourage specific writing and organized research, as well as critical examination of other people’s writing. After high school, successful lawyers usually attend a minimum of seven years of college. Four years of college are in undergraduate school and three years in law school. Then, look for law firms that are looking to hire.
