In Lanesboro, ice-cream season was late spring to early autumn. In that time the soda fountain (left) was a popular place to hang out and have a soda or an ice-cream. During the winter most people prefered hot coffee (below, left).Gerhard and his brother (below) loved to try to duplicate other inventions they read about in books and like their dad, they were top notch tinkerers.
