Georiga O'keeffeBy Nicolas John Dupaty
Significance paragraphGeorgia O'keeffe is significant to art in the 1920's because she was an inspiration to other artistsof the time, and still is today. She was inspirational because she denied sexist beliefs, followed her own artistic style, and kept exploring new subjects for art; all which made her very successful too as well. One reason why O'keeffe is a significant figfure in the 1920's is that she denied the sexist beliefs and customs at the time. O'keeffe believed that gender had no role in talent. Proof of this is that Georgia was shown to be a better artist compared to her male competitors.Another reason why Georgia o'keeffe is a significant figure in the 1920's is that she had her own unique style of painting. Since prior years, the European technique had been the dominant style of art. However, in the 20's, many artists, including O'keeffe, decided to follow their own techniques. The last reason why Georgia O'keeffe is significant to 20's art is tha she tried new subjects for painting. Okeeffe believed that art can be expressed in any given subject. It's because she applied this universal truth to her life that Georgia O'keeffe could wonderfully portray buildings, plants, skulls, and landspaces so well. She saw beauty and art in everything, and she wanted to capture it on paintings. To conclude, Georgia O'keeffe is significant to 1920's art because she ignored sexism, followed her own styles, and tried new subjects to paint.
