Georgia is the largest of the U.S. states east of the Mississippi River and the youngest of the 13 colonies, Georgia was founded in 1732, it's capital is Atlanta.Georgia is the 4th state, it became a state on January 2nd,1788. Georgia borders the Atlantic Ocean, North Carolina,Florida, South Carolian & Tenese. The state shell is the Knobbed Whelk. The state gem is the quartz, and the state possum is the Pogo Possum. The temperature is usually around 60 degrees Farenheight. No coats, mittens or boots because the state is under the equator. By the midddle of the 19th century, Georgia had the greatest number of plantations of any state in the South. It is the country’s number-one producer of peanuts, pecans and peaches, and vidalia onions, known as the sweetest onions in the world. They can only be grown in the fields around Vidalia and Glennville. Coca-Cola is also located in Georgia but was invented in Atlanta in 1886. Saint Marys Georgia is the second oldest city in the nation. Cordele claims to be the watermelon capital of the world. Georgia had the greatest number of plantations of any state in the South. Georgia is named after George II, who was king of Britain when Europeans first settled there in 1733.If you visit the State of Georgia go to the Stone Mountain Park, it is a quarts dome, and they have an awesome light show. Also go to the Georgia aquarium because it has a lot of aquatic animals Georgia sounds like a great place to visit. I can't wait to go there for vacation with my family.
