George Washington Carver

FACTS -George Washington Carver was an American Botanist.-The exact day of his birth is unknown but the year was 1846.-He was born in Diamond, Missouri.-He was born int slavery.-He died January 5, 1943 in Tuskegee, Alabama.

-Caver discovered over 300 uses for peanutsincluding shampoo, shaving cream, and glue.-In 1916, he published the research bulletin, “How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it For Human Consumption.”

-Washington graduated Minneapolis Hish School.-He went to Simpson College and Iowa State Agriculture College.

-Washington was one of many chirldren of Mary ang Giles.-They were slaves to Moses Carver.-When the Civil War was over, M. Carver kept George and his brother James to educate them.

-Booker T. Washington hired Carver to run the agricultural department.-His experiments focused on the uses for crops such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, soybeans and pecans-In 1921, he went in front of congress to support a tarriff on peanuts.
