Effective leadership is about recognizing and taking advantage of the skills and talents from different people to form a cohesive unit. All of the great leaders have had one characteristic that was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their time.

To be an effective leader, our team believes that being a visionary is the most important characteristic. Visionary leadership is characterized by leaders’ strong desire to obtain and use power and influence as a means of empowering followers to carry out their long term strategic visions.


Listening in term of leadership is actively absorbing the information given to leader by the followers, showing that leader is listening and interested, and providing feedback to the followers to show that the message was received. Effective leaders show followers that they have been heard and understood.

Another term of effective leadership is being motivational. Leaders are identified by the ability to make things happen as well as inspire and encourage their followers to achieve the common goals.

Collaboration is defined as a business process that requires individuals to work together to achieve a common goal. For team members, this means taking full responsibility for their designated tasks and working effectively with their teammates. For leaders, it means learning how to delegate the jobs properly.

Hence, effective leadership requires self-awareness as well as raised awareness of the leaders, or developed emotional intelligence. Without emotional intelligence, leaders may not be able to conduct their followers successfully and communicate effectively.

Practical method:A visionary leader has the ability to manage and direct the attention of followers through interpersonal communication. For example, the leaders can create a meaningful conversation to their followers as the way leaders interact with them to elicit the information need and can either enhance from leaders’ experiences of the process.

Practical Methods:Active listening not only means focusing fully on the speaker but also actively showing verbal and non-verbal signs of listening. For example, leaders may convey the interest to the followers by using both verbal and non-verbal messages such as maintaining eye contact, nodding your head and smiling. By providing this 'feedback' the person speaking will usually feel more at ease and therefore communicate more easily, openly and honestly.


Practical methods:Motivational interpersonal communication is the expression of positive and encouraging messages in leaders and followers and statements that build inspiration and confidence. For example, the leader may talk to followers about what they value and say things to build confidence in their ability to perform works successfully. Leaders also can create an alternative to meet each follower in person or group to conduct one survey for understanding what motivate them.



Practical Method:Collaboration demands the skillful use of interpersonal communication. As an effective collaborative leader, is to develop a climate in which honest and productive communication occurs among followers. For example, leader can do the modeling honest and productive communication skills, by asking more questions and never permitting decisions to be made by tacit endorsement rather make sure that each partner is engaged in the decision with at least an active vote or support.

Practical Method:In effective leadership interpersonal communication, emotional intelligence is also essential to the core skills of strategy development, written and oral communication. However, a deficiency of emotional intelligence will always lead to communication failures, which correspond to the reduction of team spirit. For example, leaders can repress their emotion and communicate differently, the task would have gone smoothly.
