There are several types of geographic features throughout the world that have had an impact on people and their civilizatios.1. Mountains - Mountains act as a natural barrier for people, because trying to climb and cross mountains meant possible death. Mountains protect and isolate civilizations.2. Rivers - Rivers were the KEY to life for civilizations. The land around rivers was perfect for growing crops. Rivers were used as irrigation (a way to water your crops), food, drinking water, transportation and trade. Rivers allowed life to survive!3. Deserts - Deserts are harsh climates that isolate societies. It was death to cross a desert.4. Oceans - Oceans, like mountains, acted as a natural barrier to people at first. Eventually they learn to sail and oceans were good for trade
