Geography and Early Civilization of India

India was one of the worlds earliest civilization. India borders mountains and the Arabian Sea, which helps shelter the civilization from attack and disease. Water from the river fertalized and irrigates crops. The river allows boats to become a transportation option.

The Harappan grew up in the Indus River Valley, which is located in the South-Western part of the Indus River. Archeologists think that the civilization thrived between 2,300 and 1,700 BC.

Harappan civilization were very advanced, because they had writing, agriculture, animals, metal weapons and tools, pottery, and a government which helped the cities and provided people with drains and running water. The Harappans lived during the Bronze Age, and most people of that period had few or none of these things. After the civilization got destroyed by... Earthquakes, Floods, Aryans invaded the Harappan, and the Harappans were left with no viable land to grow crops. A new group took power in the Indus Valley, they were called Aryans.

Aryans were skilled warriors, they used chariots and advanced weapons. They did not read or write, because they had to memorize every piece of reading or writing. They were invaders from Central Asia. Some people thought that they had helped end the Harappan civilization.
