GENES

Ethical Issues surrounding Gene TherapyCost:~ At such a high cost, will gene therapy then only be available to the wealthy? Should some doctors lower the rates for the less fortunate?Good vs Bad:~ When considering whether the gene treatment has positive or negative outcomes, should one only look at how the person receiving the treatment benefits or on a wider scale and how it affects the entire community? Society:~ Could poeple (mainly the rich) take advantage of gene therapy for their own personal gain? Should they be allowed to?~ Is it possible that the use of gene therapy could make some people less accepting of others?

Gene delivery can play a big part in the execution of gene therapy!

Even though what the picture at the bottom right shows seems impossible, we have to consider the possibility that gene therapy could completely alter the way we live and life around us. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years there will actually be more cross species mutations of animals, or even humans.

You Can't Wear These Genes!

Advancements in human gene therapy:-Various diseases are being helped and cured by human gene therapy, such as Neurological Lentivirus, Herpes Simplex Virus, Adenovirus and Adeno-Associated virus (AAV) .-In 2001, scientists discovered a gene called FHIT that can help the spread of cancer cells, which would help prevent the development of cancer.-In August 2006, researchers from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) created lymphocyctes. These immune cells should attack cancer cells for individuals with metastatic melanoma.-In 2007, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center reported on finding that the number and size of tumors were significantly reduced in lung cancer by using gene therapy on mice.-In 2008, Virginia Commonwealth University researchers discovered a chemoprevention gene therapy that treats and prevents pancreatic cancer..
