Galileo Galilei

Galileo was born in Pisa, Italy in 1564. Although he was an astronomer in his later years, Galileo was very interested in music as a child.

He was blinded from studying the sun and its spots.

While studying Jupiter, Galileo proved that Earth was not the center of the universe. However, the Roman Catholic Church ordered him to claim that his discovery was just an idea.

Galileo published a book saying that Earth revolved around the sun. This made the Church leaders think Galileo had gone against his word.

Over time, Galileo realized that Venus has phases just like the moon.

The Roman Catholic Church put him on trial where he was imprisoned. Later, the Church let him out of prison, but he couldn't speak to anyone, or leave his home.
