Gary Paulsen

Gary Paulsen didn't like reading as a child until his librarian gave him a library card and kept urging him to read. As a child his faorite type of book was science fiction. Gary Paulsen is a big fan of nature. He also likes dog sled races and he was in two in Alaska. He had to quit because he had a heart attack while racing and he gave up his dogs. His favorite thing to do is writing.

Born May 17, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He loved books when he was little. He ran away from his home at age 14 because his parents were fighting. He was a very bad student and flunked all of his classes. Eventualy he went back to Minnesota and lived in the woods. That is were he wrote his first book. He had to give up his passion of dogsled racing because of a heart attack. He now lives in Minnesota. Gary was having a tough time in life but he realy liked to read. This is what make him want to become a writer.
