What is a gap year?A gap year is a year that a student delays finishing school.Who takes a gap year?Students that struggle financially, or want to travel.

Why take a gap year?

Students that delay school, tend to make better grades than students that immediatly commence into a university. This could be caused by the student's increased maturity levels, therefore they are more dedicated to their studies.A gap year is a great time for a student to enter the work field and become more financially stable before entering college.

About 1/3 of college attendees do not return after their first year. A majority of those students are students that balance schoolwork and work at the same time.

This is not true. Of the students that take a gap year, around 90% return to school.

Many argue that students that take a gap year are less likely to return to school.

Students will develop many employable skills after taking a gap year. This is possibly due to the increase of self awareness over the period of a gap year. These students will have an advantage over others in the work feild.
