Born October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India Gandhi was raised in a Hindu family in Western India. He then went to Inner Temple London where he was trained in law. Wehn he returned to India he planned to organize a protest for peasants, farmers and urban land labourers against excessive land tax and discrimination. Through out his life Gandhi particiapated in numerous amounts of non-violent protest for things he strongly believed in. Such as, easing poverty, expanding womens right and building relious and ethnic peace. He also worked to end untouchability, (Indian slavery) and make peace between the Hindu's and the Muslim's.

I think his greatest accomplishment was, he never stopped fighting for what he thought was right.
Lasting Impact
Today Gandhi is known as the Father of the Nation. There is also a national holiday held on his birthday, it is called International Day of Non-Violence.
