To become a game programmer you need to know a lot of skills such as mathematics, physics and computer science(or "equivalent experience").But more important, the skills required depends of the type of game or aspect that is being created.

A game programmer's salary is around 48000$, but that depends on the game they produce and if it's well succeed. but as well as you gain experience you will start to earn more money per year. Studies revealed that who has more than 6 years of experience is able to earn around $111000 per year.
