According to the Oxford Dictionary, Gall Stones are ''a solid crystal deposit that forms in the gallbladder, which is a pear-shaped organ that stores bile salts until they are needed to help digest fatty foods.''

What are the Symptoms?

Seventy percent of those who develop Gall Stones do not suffer from any symptoms. Only when Gall Stones become lodged in the bile duct do symptoms appear. Symptoms include:-Fever-Vomiting -Acute abdominal pain

-Those who are overweight.-People who suffer from diabetes-Women are more susceptible to developing Gall Stones than men, due to the hormone, 'Progesterone' which is released during pregnancy. Progesterone forces all the muscle tissue in the body to relax, including the gall bladder.

How are Gall Stones Treated?

Unless symptoms appear, surgery is not necessary. However, there are non-surgical alternatives to surgery in the event that painful symptoms are experienced. These include:-Lithotripsy-Bile acids consumed in the form of medicine.-Contact Dissolution therapy
