Project Isabela works to remove goats from many of the islands. By 2006, almost all are gone from 3 islands: Pinta, Santiago, ' Isabela."Judus Goats" (ones who are sterilized so they will not reproduce but given additional hormones) are kept on these islands to attract any new goats that enter the island, helping to maintain a goat free Galapagos.

Introduced in the 1800's by humans as an alternate food source, goats quickly grew in population. From 3 to 40,000 in 11 years on one island alone.
