Fungal: Candidiasis
Candidias is caused by a yeast-like fungus called candida- Candida albicans. It only happens when there is an overgrowth of candida. Drugs or several health conditions may also cause it.
The mouth, vagina, skin, stomach, and urinary tract can be infected.
Extra information-75% of women will get a vaginal yeast infection during their lifetime-90% of all people with HIV/AIDS develop candida infections
Symptoms-Creamy white patches in the mouth or on the throat -Painful cracks at the corners of the mouth -Skin rashes, patches, and blisters found most commonly in the groin, between fingers and toes, and under the breasts-Vaginal itching and irritation with a white discharge
Treatment:Vaginal yeast infection anti-fungal medicine includes miconazole (Monistat), ticonazole (Vagistat), and clotrimazole (Gyne-Lotrimin). A pill like fluconazole (Diflucan) might also be prescribe by the doctor.
