French and Indian War

Britain declared war on France for control of the valley. The Natives liked France since they traded with them but did not settle on their land.

Britain and France had colonies in North America and wanted to trade with the Native Americans who lived there.

1750

Britain sent more soldiers to North America. Which helped them deafeat the French in Canada.

Britain and France ended the war and signed a treaty of Paris. France gave Britain control of Canada and most of the land east of the Mississippi River.

History

Bejamin Franklin thought the colonies should work together to defeat France and each colony would still have their own government but they rejected his idea since they didn't want to join other governments

1754

British soldiers stayed in Ohio River Valley. The indians wanted the soldiers to leave and an Ottawa chief lead them to war.

1763

Proclamation of 1763 said that colonists could not settle west of the Apalachian Mountains. This made colonists angry. Many colonists settled there anyway.
