Why was it so important? it put a great deal of pressure on the federal goverment. The things that the whites did to african amercians made other white americans realize that blacks didnt deserve these things and that they were inhumane. Freedom rides were a strong form of protest and also showed america that there wasnt a differnce whites and african americans.

What is a Freedom Rider? African-American and white civil rights activists launched the Freedom Rides;a series of bus trips through the South to protest segregation in interstate bus terminals.

Why?Male, Female, black and white, young and old. Their inital goal was to test the most segregated towns in the United States.
