We cannot allow the fear of communism to prevent our given rights. Due to the ban, our First Amendment and our civil rights are being violated. Our school, while it looks out for safety, is oppressing our rights when it takes the authority to encroach the rights given to us.
Support the Free Speech Movement because our voice matters! We will meet in the Sproul Plaza at 10am on November 4th. We will have tables set up and signs that people can hold up.
Free Speech: It's a right
Our rights as Americans have been violated. At UC Berkeley, we should have the liberty to express our political belief and act in ways that support our political ideologies. The fundamental idea that the people have the right to determine their own perspectives as to who our leaders should be. This belief seperates us from the authoritarian, oppressive, Communist nations like the Soviet Union. The ban that the university have implemented for many years is no longer acceptable. We need to take action.
Come Join the Movement
FSM sit inThe sit in will demostrate our dedication to retrieving back what is rightfully ours. It will show to the administration that we will not resign from our position and stand up for what we believe in.
Unite with SLATE members, civil rights militants, anti-HUAC demonstrators, and ordinary students.
