Frederick Douglass was taught how to read, he worked as a servent and laberor in Baltimore. He then changed his name from Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey to Frederick Douglass and escaped to freedom in the North.

Douglass publishes his second autobiography, My Bondage and My Freedom. It was made to help run away slaves to find freedom in the Underground Railroad.

Douglass than published, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slaves. After publishing he quickly leaves to go to London and Scotland, but is brought back (1846). English admires purchase his freedom and is able to return to the U.S.

Frederick Douglass than publishes the North Star in a weekly newspaper for New Yorl. He than became a spokesman for the rights of women and freeing people from slavery.

He speaks in Masssachussetts as an abolitionist for a meeting and then was employeed as a lecturer. Douglass was apart of the American Anti-Slavery Society.
