Douglass became a regular anti-slavery lecturerHe wrote a bestselling autobiography Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave in 1845.His wife, Annie, gave birth to: Rosetta, Lewis Henry, Frederick Jr., Charles Redmond, and Annie. When Anna had, Douglass married Helen Pitts, a white feminist from Honeoye, New York.Frederick Douglass died of a heart attack or stroke. He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester, New York.
Accomplishments
During the Civil War, Douglass served as an advisor to Abrahmam Lincoln.He fought for he adoption of constitutional amendments that assured voting rights and other civil liberties for african americans.In 1872, he became the first African American to receive a nomination for Vice President of the United States
Lasting Impact
He helped end segregation, spoke inspirational words, and first black citizen to take part in high rank of the government
