A FEW FACTS

FREDERICK DOUGLASS IS A VERY ACCOMPLISHED MAN. HE HAS HAD MANY AMAZING THINGS HAPPEN IN HIS LIFE SINCE HE ESCAPED SLAYERY. HE WAS AN ABOLITIONIST FROM 1830 TO 1895. BECAUSE HE WAS AFRICAN AMERICAN DURING THE 1800'S, HE HAD A HARD LIFE. HE ALSO RECRUITED BLACK MEN IN THE CIVIL WAR AND BECAME A MARSHALL FOR THE UNION ARMY. HE LATER MARRIED ANNA DOUGLASS, WHO GAVE HIM A FEW OF HIS MOST PROUD ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THESE WERE HIS FIVE CHILDREN ROSETTA, LEWIS HENRY, FREDERICK JR., CHARLES REDMOND, AND ANNIE. SADLY ANNIE DIED AT THE AGE OF 10.

FREDERICK DOUGLASS WAS A GREAT CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER. HE IS IMPORTANT TO AMERICAN HISTORY BECAUSE OF ALL THE GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE AGAINST SLAVERY. IF IT WEREN'T FOR HIM WOMEN WOULDN'T HAVE SOME RIGHTS. HE ALSO SAVED MANY LIVES OF AFRICAN AMERICANS FROM HAVING THE WORST FATE POSSIBLE. HE HAS HELPED MANY PEOPLE. HE HAS ALSO GONE THROUGH MANY HARDSHIPS LIKE ESCAPING SLAVERY, LOSING HIS WIFE, HIS CHILD, AND HIS MOTHER.

FREDERICK AUGUSTUS WASHINGTON BAILEY, WAS BORN ON FEB. 14th, 1818 AND DIED ON FEBUARY 20, 1895. HE WAS BORN INTO SLAVERY IN TUCKAHOE, MARYLAND AND LATER MADE HIS WAY TO WASHINGTON, DC WHERE HE BEGAN A NEW LIFE. AFTER ATTENDING A MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN, HE WENT BACK TO HIS HOUSE AND WAS LATER FOUND DEAD FROM A HEART ATTACK, AT 77.
