Jean Frederic Bazille
Frederic Bazille came from a rich family so he had more money to put into his art. He originally was studying medicine, but he left that to pursue art. During those years he met fellow painters such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley. He never married, and his many intimate relationships with men lead people to believe he was gay. In 1870 he joined the military shortly after the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War and died in battle.
He attended Gleyre's studio in paris. He met Monet, Renoir, and Sisley at that studio and later they left the studio and began working together. They enjoyed working and painting in nature and gradually invented impressionism. He later met Manet through them.
Bazille showed clear thinking and realism in his art. His paintings demonstrated his mastery of capturing the effects of sunlight on landscape and flesh tone. He believed light was inseparable from the object it illuminated, so that's why he worked in the oudoors and painted them.
