Silverware in the Middle Ages became popular and beneficial in the society. When it came to their eating routines, silverware like spoons and forks were used for serving foods. Knives were the most commmonly used table utensil. Additionally, knvies were also used as a one's pocket knife or dagger; everyone in the society owned his/her own knife. In the Middle Ages it was normal to use your hands to eat. The royals and nobilities would eat their meals off of golden dishes, while the lower class serfs ate out of wooden bowls. Soups were drunken out of cups.
Diet
There was a variety of foods in the Middle Ages. Bread was a main food source. It took quite a bit of work in order to prepare bread. The women created the dough, and they normally baked it in community ovens. Although, bread was commonly eaten, they also consumed different food like fruits, vegetables, grains, eggs, berries, nuts, and meats. Meat was mainly eaten on special occasions like Christmas and Easter. Bread was used in the medieval diet. This diet was used throughout the Middle Ages, and mostly everyone did it. In today's society bread is crucial to some foods, and used commonly throughout the world.

Foods in the Middle Ages were helpful to the economy. It provided different jobs for the serfs. The peasants worked on the fields picking different fruits and vegetables. The nobilities and roylas ate in a great hall. They were served a variety of courses of food. The King was always served first, then the guests and priests were followed. Peasants sat on stools and benches down the hall and was served whatever foods were left over from the dinner. When silverware became known in the Middle Ages, it became easier to serve and eat the different types of food. Having utensils like knives, spoons, and forks made it significantly simpler to make food, especially dough, which helped in the process of making bread.
