The Stats ~About 8 million Americans have an eating disorder and, within that population, 7 million of those are woman and 1 million of them are men. ~The higest mortality rate of any mental illness is eating disorders. ~1 in 10 people with eating disorders will receive treatment. ~People between the ages of 12-25 make up 95% of the overall percentage of people with eating disorders.
Bulimia Nervosa:is an eating disorder commonly known for frequent events of binge eating, continued by drastic efforts to prevent themselves from gaining weight. Bulimics will do anything to remove the food they consume. Wether it be from throwing up to laxatives to 10-mile runs.
Anorexia Nervosa: is a complex eating disorder with three main symptoms: refusal to maintain a healthy body weight, an intense fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image. Along with these symptoms, anorexics will never feel skinny enough.
An eating disorder is a diverse range of psychological disorders and resulted as abnormal or disturbed eating habits. There is always an intense anxiety about body weight and size. Eating disorders can often be an extremely dangerous response to stress. As a result, they can cause serious physical and emotional problems that can pose life-threatening consequences for females and males.
