What you think about the Book?
After the father of the Dollanganger family, Christopher, dies in a car accident the family goes into debt. This leads Corrine to call her parents to ask if they can stay with them. Her mother agrees, but the only catch is Corrine's father is very sick and unaware of her children. If he learns about the children Corrine will lose her inheritence because Christopher (Corrine's husband & the childrens father) is also Corrine's half uncle. So Corrine tells the children that they have to hide in the attic for a few days until her father dies. The days turn into weeks which turn into months which turn into years. While in the attic many critical events happen that will affect the children's life forever. During this time the children are slowly forgotten about and left to starve. So Cathy and Chris learn that in order to survive not only do they have to escape from the attic, but also from their family.
Before escaping the mansion the children learn that Cory was poisoned by their mother which only fuels their rage even more. They use the money that they found in the mansion for bus tickets to Florida. This is where they want to start a new life and try to forget about the attic, but in the sequel of the book, Petals on the Wind, we learn that this is harder for some than others.
I enjoyed this book very much, it was a very creative storyline that kept you wondering what would happen next. I would recommend this book, but because of certain topics in the book only to mature people. The ending of the book also kept you wondering what will happen next on their journey, which is why I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
