[2015] Taylor Knowles: Fleetwood Mac

The BandIn 1967 a band would make history in London, England. Fleetwood Mac was created with 5 original members, and since then, has broken up and gotten back together multiple times, leaving the only orginal band member to remain, Mick Fleetwood. Fleetwood Mac has had a tumultuos couple decades of romance, heartbreak, popularity, and falling out. The band was never based on certain morals or political ventures, but as a whole they were very spiritual. Nicks claims openly that the band was never "in a religious category". They went with the flow and they knew a guardian angel somewhere was getting them through the bad times and helping them succeed. Early in their career (late 60's) Fleetwood mac incoporated the Blues genre into their music with lead guitarist Peter Green. Into the 70's Fleetwood Mac would become one of the biggest mainstream pop bands in the U.K. and United States. The band started as a British-Blues revival band in the, but after finding the right lineup of musicians, they became unduplicateable. Their mix of talent ranging from california-to-the-core (John Buckingham), to dreamy mystic with a gift, (Nicks) to veteran Britsish rhythm and blues (Fleetwood and the Mcvies) created the love chid of 70'd mainstrem British rock. Their self-titled album Fleetwood Mac was released in 1975 and was their 11th album to come out. The album became multiplatinum along with Tusk in 1979. Their album Rumours was written in 1977 after the band went through a tough divorce between the Mcvies, Fleetwood leaving his wife, and Stevie and Buckingham splitting up as well. The album was a huge success and sold over 19 million copies in the U.S. alone. Fleetwood Mac is one of the most influential bands of all time and continues to have an impact on society today.
