Final Course Reflection (Special Education)

What learning experiences will you "take with you" as a future teacher?

What did you think of the course, the teacher, the students, the assignments, etc…?

What did you learn?

What changes would you make, if any?

How did you “grow”?

Did you meet your own expectations of yourself? Why or why not?

Did the course meet your expectations? Why or why not?

I ALWAYS enjoy Shellie's classes. They don't even feel like classes half the time. They work is relevent to the class and there is nothing I feel like is left out. These classes are welcoming and full of smiles and acceptance. Everyone is fighting a different battle that you don't know about.

I will take with me that no child is the same no matter how they appear. I will take with me that you have to create a friendship with every student and even more so the students who struggle with their own differences.

Ugh, what didn't I learn? I learned that patience is a must. I learned that you need to have great paras who are willing to work with the plan you have for your student. I even learned how to write an ILP!

I feel like all content that was presented in this course was relevant and that nothing was "excess". I feel like it is the perfect way to introduce people to the special education world.

I grew as a person understanding the challenges that teachers have with the difficulties in having a special needs children in a classroom. Expectations are thrown down hard upon you to help that student learn, even when they "just don't get it". I grew because I gained so much more respect for the people who choose to go in the field specifically for special education.

This course did not only meet my expectations, but exceeded them greatly. I learned so much with my field experience and a lot in the course within group presentations. There is so much information to obtain in this specific field. I am honestly sad this class is over because it was phenomenal.

I feel like I met my expectations. I just wished I would have had more time to actually go to a different place besides just a classroom. I disappointed myself and didn't allow myself to go. I've been before, but it would have been great to share those experiences in my project.
