Feng Shui

The Chinese believe that success and failure come from the mysterious earth forces that are believed to be responsible for health, prosperity and good luck. Feng shui has influenced Chinese culture at a deeply profound level and it has become firmly associated with every event of domestic life.

Feng Shui (or wind and water) is the practice of arranging and presenting your environment so that the energy or “chi” flows gently and smoothly through your home or business area.

What is the purpose of Feng Shui and how has it influenced Chinese beliefs?

Feng Shui brings a belief of happiness, inspiration, joy and balance into their life. When they fill their space with positive energy they feel happy and motivated. The intention of feng shui is to be in harmony with your surrounding environment to maximize fortune and success.

Feng Shui has influenced the Chinese greatly as it has become a way of life. They organise and arrange their environment so they can unblock obstacles and negative energy so the Chi (life force energy) flows smoothly.

Feng Shui is the art of living in harmony with the land. For example, in a house they consider the placement of artwork, furniture, mirrors, rugs and make sure there is no clutter throughout the house. People who incorporate Feng Shui in their home ensure there is a clear pathway to the front door, a nice open front entrance and make sure in the design of the house you cannot see straight through from the front door to the back. This is to make sure the Chi, or positive energy stays in the house.
