TIMELINE OF FAMOUS PALEONTOLOGISTS
This timeline is about famous paleontologists I have studied in my IPC topic about dinosaurs.
Time Line

Gideon Mantell
The most notable paleontologist of the 19th century. Hermann von Meyer was a German paleontologist who named and described Archaeopteryx; (1861), Rhamphorhynchus (1847), Plateosaurus (1837), and Stenopelix (1857).
An early explorer of dinosaur foot prints. Hitchcock collected over 20,000 dinosaur fossil footprints; he thought that the trackways had been made by huge, extinct birds (and was essentially correct).
Famous for finding an intact skeleton of Tyranosaurus rex. After she found the T.rex she named her ''Sue''.
He discovered the reason why dinosaurs went extinct.
His theory was that the impact of a large comet or meteor threw up tons of dust, blotted out the sun, and caused the earth’s vegetation to wither, with the result that plant-eating and then meat-eating dinosaurs starved and froze to death. The name of the meteor is K-T.
He deserves the credit for discovering Iguanadon. Gideon A. Mantell (1790-1852) was an amateur British fossil hunter.
