MLK had the I have a dream speech in Washington DC in front of the Lincoln Memorial. He wanted his kids to be judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin. The Civil Rights Act came and people called when watching it on the news. Civil rights leaders met with MLK before his speech. They had marchers join hands together before the speech. Also, before the speech they listened to freedom songs.

This is what we wrote : Slavery started in the early 1800's. They had slaves all over the world before the US did. African Americans were taken from their homes and took on slave ships to the US and become slaves. Slaves were brought to Jamestown and sold an auctions. Familys would be brooken up and sold to seperate states sometimes. The Civil War ended slavery in 1865.
