Family St. Valentine

Jesus went to the sea. Large crowds gathered around him so he went and sat down in a boat while the crowd stood at the shore. Jesus spoke to the crowd at length in parables because the people do not have knowledge of the KOG and because "they look but do not see and hear but do not listen. Jesus started to speak, "a sower went out to sow, and as he sowed, some seed fell on a path: birds ate some seeds, some fell among thorns, some fell on rocked and were scorched from the sun, but some feel in rich soil and produced fruit. Whoever has ears ought to listen."(Matthew, 1029)

The parable of the sower is a living reality because it talks about situations that happen today. There are people who are suddenly inspired and love God, but when they are tempted by the devil they turn away just as easily as they came. There are people that are afraid to be Catholic because they are afraid of the consequences that come with being Catholic either being shunned by their friends or persecuted by their government. But among all those people there are people that are very dedicated to God and stay faithful to him through the up and downs they experience in life.

3 Things the Parable Teaches

1. The Kingdom of God is open to all disciples.2. To understand the Kingdom of God, you must hear and see not only with your eyes and ears, but with your heart.3. When the message about the Kingdom of God is heard but not truly understood, evil will take away the goodness of the message.
