What you think about the Book?

Ivy June and Catherine had a really tough time. Ivy June felt like it was ok to be different and didn't let how they lived get to her. Catherine did the same and she knew why the schools even did the student exchange program, to understand each others differences and similarities. Catherine was really worried about her mom but everything turned out all right after the surgery. Her whole family was relieved. Ivy June was also very worried. Everyone in town thought that Ivy June's grandpa and the other people that got trapped in the same area as him wouldn't survive since they was trapped inside of a mine for over six whole days! They finally were able to get them out with the help of Red Cross. Even though they both had a lot of differences in their lives, they ended up being more alike than different.

Faith, Hope, and Ivy June is an amazing book. It kept me on the edge of my seat when I got near the ending. What I really wanted to know was what happened to Ivy June's Papaw at the mine and how Catherine's mom' s surgery turned out. If I could rate it out of five stars, I would give a four.

Author: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

When Ivy June goes to Catherine's house for the exchange program, she feels like she doesn't deserve to be in a place that looks so rich and nice. Also, after Catherine comes to Ivy June's house in Thunder Creek, she can't handle doing a lot of the stuff Ivy June and her family does. An example would be when she has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, she would have to run across their field and go inside a small bathroom shed. They also face other problems. Catherine's mom found out she has a heart problem and she will be having an operation. Ivy June's grandfather was at the mine when an incident happened and nobody knows what happened to many of the miners including Ivy June's grandpa. A few miners even died which scares them even more. They both are very depressed and don't know what to do in this situation.
