September 24, F. Scott Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota

Reasons for his fame:1. He wrote the most famous novel of 1920's: The Great Gatsby.2. Also, in the 1920's This Side of Paradise made him a celebrity. 3. He is known as one of the greatest "chroniclist" and "satirists" of the culture of wealth, ambition and luxury.

Zelda was very influential in his writing. She took Ftzgerald to parties made him drink and he actually experienced all the events that are shown in his novels.

Four Finished Novels:1. This Side of Paradise2. The Beauty and Damned3. The Great Gatsby 4. Tender is the Night

Fitzgerald suffered two heart attacks efore his death and he died of a heart attack.He shares a grave with his wife.

His first publication at age 14 in the student publication St. Paul Academy: "The Mystery of the Raymond Mortgage"

He enters Princeton University with the Class of 1917

He married Zelda at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC.

He becomes an overnight sensation by his publised work, This Side of Paradise.

The Great Gatsby is published as his third novel which sold poorly in the 1st year but became the American Greatest Novel


Fitzgerald died and felt he was a failure, but after wwII it became "The Great American Novel"

Dec. 1940


Fitzgerald left Princeton to join in the army.


He met Zelda and got engaged, but broke it off months later due to Fitzgerald unsuccessful career.
