European Gypsy Motha.k.a. Lymantria dispar

"The Tree Hugger"

Pupae State:- Dark brown- Light hair- Cocoon-like form

Catepillar State:- Gray or black- Hairy- Has red and blue spots- Can be found in clusters, nibbling on trees

Residing in the U.S., the Gypsy Moth spreads from Maine down into Virginia and as far west as Minnesota (primarily in the North East). They prefer heavily forested areas with a diverse foliage population.

Crimes Commited

- Defoliating of trees- Public nuisance- Smuthering and killing of trees- Limiting outside activities

- Healthier and more abundant trees- A community that is able to enjoy outdoor activities such as picnics, swimming, and camping- A more profitable wood industry

Moth State:- Distinct v-shaped wings-Spots and dark brown accents on wings-Females are larger with tan wings-Males are smaller and dark brown
