Eric Carle

-Eric Carle uses a collage technique to illustrate his books. He hand paints papers, which he cuts and layers to create his bright and colorful pictures.-Eric got his early education in Germany where his father Dave was drafted to the army. Unfortunately he was captured as a prisoner by the Soviet when Germany was capitulated in the beginning of 1945.-Eric decided to move to New York city with only $40 in his pocket. -Carle's first job in New York was a graphic designer for the New York Times. -Bill Martin started Eric Carle's career as a writer/illustrator when he asked Eric to illustrate Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see? This inspired Eric Carle to write and illusrate his own stories.-The first book that Eric Carle ever wrote was 1,2,3 to the Zoo
