Eric CarleBORN: June 25, 1929Syracuse, New York

- Moved to Germany at 6 years old- Graduated from prestigious art school in Germany- Moved back to America in 1952- Went from being a graphic designer for NY Times, to an art director of an advertising agency- Bill Martin Jr. noticed a drawing of his in an advertisement and this began Carle's career

- There is an Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Massachusetts- The Very Hungry Caterpillar, is the book he is most known for- Carle uses hand painted pictures for his books' illustrations- The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has been translated into over 50 languages
