Christopher Paolini

This story was narrated by a third-person narrator. The narrator effeciently describes the thoughts and feelings of Eragon, the main character. Eragon was set in a midieval time period in the land of Alagasia. The setting was very influencial to the plot as they were chasing down enemies. I believe the overall theme of the book was: things can change in an instant so you must always be ready. This book was a fantasy. It has the basic elements of fantasy: Magic, strange creatures, and faraway lands. This book did, however, allow the main character to talk with a dragon which is something you don't see often in fantasy. The author of Eragon is Christopher Paolini. Paolini hasn't written any books since the inheritance series but those books were influenced by J.R.R. Tolkien, Frank Herbert, and others who write the same genre. In Eragon, a 15 year old boy finds a weird gem on a hunting trip and finds out that it is actually a dragon egg. The egg hatches into a dragon which he names Saphira. Eragon is one of the last dragon riders and he and Saphira chase after those who would try to kill him. They find new friends and make new alliances. But King Galabatorix wants Eragon. So they flee to the mountains where they meet Elves, Dwarfs, and other humans. I really enjoyed this book because of the magic in it. Fantasy is my favorite genre and this is definitely a good fantasy. The magical creatures are well described and the author really paid attention to the details. One of the things I disliked about this book was that the author spent so much time talking about traveling and history. That's just stuff I didn't really want to know. I would definitely like to read the next book in the series. I'm excited to see what happens. I would also encourage people to read this book. It was a great fantasy and overall had a great plot!

Saphira's Growl

This song makes me imagine Saphira and Eragon flying through the sky.
