Stress that proves to be beneficial for the experiencer and will help them. An example of Eustress can be sports. You might be stressed before a tournament but that stress will make you jumpy and that hype that you receive from the stress can help you perform even better.

Anxiety that causes one grief or sorrow and can be dangerous if it is extreme. Often, students may feel unprepared for a test and they will stay up very late at night just to study. Anxiety caused by studying and preparing is referred to as distress because it causes the person negative effects.
